Mr. Vonner H. “Bubber” Hicks Jr., 73, of West Point died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services are planned for Friday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. from the graveside at Marseilles Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating.
The family will greet friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at McCarthy Funeral Home in West Point GA.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Reeds Chapel Baptist Church in Mr. Hicks’
memory.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his children, Renee Hicks Brem of Valley, Jeff (Terri) Hicks of LaGrange, Greg (Amy) Hicks of LaGrange and Bronwyn (Tony) Hicks Brown of Opelika; his grandchildren, Kevin Brown, Ashlee Brown, Garrett Brown, Daniel Hicks, Karley Hicks Huddleston, MacKenzi Hicks, Tanner Hicks, Victoria Slagle and Scott Hicks; his great-grandchildren, Dylan Brown and Ridge Hicks; and his sister, Jackie Hicks of West Point.
Born Friday, April 5, 1940, in Langdale, Mr. Hicks was the son of the late Vonner Harrison and Viveinna Goodwin Hicks. He attended Valley High School after which he was employed by the Chattahoochee Valley Railway for 10 years. Mr. Hicks retired as a truck driver from WestPoint Stevens Transportation with 32 years of service. He enjoyed traveling, working outdoors and was an avid collector of NHRA memorabilia and attending NHRA events. He attended Reeds Chapel Baptist Church.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Janelle T. Hicks.
